COCHISE COLLEGE FALL <strong>2009</strong> SCHEDULE OF CLASSES 13Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)An eligible student may receive a grant of up to $750 for the first academic year of studyand up to $1,300 for the second academic year. Students must qualify for the Pell grant andmust have completed a rigorous high school program to be eligible for this grant. Studentswho indicate possible eligibility for this grant on the FAFSA application will receive instructionson how to complete the qualification process.NOTE: THE DOUGLAS AND SIERRA VISTA CAMPUSES AREUNDER CONSTRUCTION. WATCH FOR DETOURS ANDCLOSURES AND CHECK YOUR COLLEGE E-MAILOR THE WEB SITE FOR UPDATES.Federal Stafford LoansLow-interest student loans are available to help meet educational expenses. The loans mustbe repaid. Students must be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours during the term(including eight-week terms) to be eligible. Loans will automatically be offered to studentswho indicate interest in the loan program. Loans also may be obtained by students who donot demonstrate need. A student must complete both the loan entrance counseling and theloan acceptance form before a student’s loan will be certified.LEAPThe LEAP Grant is a state program. Recipients must be residents of Arizona and mustdemonstrate high need. Priority is given to students who submit the FAFSA by April 15.Parents of Dependent Undergraduate Student Loan (PLUS)These are loans that parents of dependent students can get to pay for educational expenses. Thestudents must be enrolled at least half time. The parent must have no adverse credit history.Federal <strong>College</strong> Work StudyThe work-study program allows students to work and earn funds to apply to their collegecosts. Jobs are available both on and off campus and allow flexibility in work hours. Studentsseeking employment should apply at Career Services. There also are institutional work-studyjobs available to those who do not qualify for federal aid. For more information, contactCareer Services at (520) 417-4756/4752 or (520) 515-5457.HOW TO APPLYThe Financial Aid ProcessThe financial aid application process can take as long as four to six weeks and possiblylonger if complications result due to a required correction. A major factor in processing timeis the time it takes a student to complete their file. Plan ahead, read instructions carefully andrespond promptly to all requests for information or documents from the Financial Aid Office.The FAFSA is available each year on January 1 for the following academic year. It needs tobe submitted no later than April 15 in order to meet the priority deadline for additional grantfunding. FAFSA on the Web worksheets are available in the Financial Aid Office and at theFAFSA Web site.You can complete the federal application online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. If submitting theFAFSA online, be sure you obtain a PIN number (if you are a new applicant) before submittingthe application. If you are a dependent student, at least one parent will also have to obtaina PIN to complete an online application.
