COCHISE COLLEGE FALL 2009 SCHEDULE OF CLASSES 27ADULT EDUCATIONFree, non-credit courses provide basic education for students at least 16 years of age wishingto improve skills in reading, writing, math, and English. Morning, afternoon and eveningclasses are available in several locations in Cochise County. All students must take a placementtest during registration. A minimum number of students per class may be required; registrationis closed when classes are filled. Sierra Vista and Douglas register approximatelyevery eight weeks. Other classes are open entry.ENGLISH LANGUAGE ACQUISITION (ELA)Courses develop English proficiency and life skills for speakers of other languages, as wellas active community involvement. Classroom instruction is reinforced by computer lab time,which helps students gain a mastery of speaking, listening, reading, and writing.GENERAL EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT (GED)Courses prepare students for the state GED examination. Subject areas include: languagearts, math, social studies, science, and writing.
