COCHISE COLLEGE FALL <strong>2009</strong> SCHEDULE OF CLASSES 21Campus Crime Report/Student Right-To-KnowAccording to federal statute and regulations, colleges and universities are required to prepareand distribute an annual security report. Within the report, colleges must set forth theirpolicies on crime prevention and sex offenses and give statistics on the number of crimesreported on campus. Other reported crimes include the number of arrests for liquor lawand/or drug violations and weapons possessions. The crime report is updated eachSeptember; a drug and alcohol free workplace report is updated each April. The reports maybe reviewed at www.cochise.edu.<strong>College</strong> Smoking Policy #5005Smoking is not permitted in any college building or classroom. Outdoor smoking is limitedto designated smoking areas.Hazardous MaterialsCertain courses may require students to work with potentially hazardous materials as partof their course work in the laboratory, darkroom, or workshop. Instructors will provide informationon the safe handling of all materials to include upon request material safety data sheets(MSDS). If you have questions regarding the use of these materials or any required personalprotective equipment, ask your instructor or a member of the specific academic department.Student ComplaintsWhile all complaints directed to college personnel by students are considered important andwill be addressed by the respective employee, department and/or office personnel pursuant toPolicy 4008 (Student Grievances and Due Process), only formal, written student complaints,including those sent by e-mail, filed with the offices of the college president or the vice presidentfor instruction/provost by current students are considered official complaints. Officialcomplaints are documented, investigated, their resolution and/or disposition noted, with arecord of such complaints maintained for no less than two years. Students and institutional personnelare hereby advised that information about these official complaints will be shared withthe college’s accrediting agency, the Higher Learning Commission of the North CentralAssociation; however, individual identities of students will be shielded without the express permissionof said complainants. The complaint log is reviewed on an annual basis by the vice presidentfor instruction/provost, who ascertains whether or not the complaints follow any particularpattern and whether or not special intervention, direction, and/or staff development maybe in order to mitigate subsequent complaints or address problems with institutional quality.STUDENT DEVELOPMENT CENTER (SDC) SERVICESAcademic, Career, and Personal Advising<strong>Cochise</strong> <strong>College</strong> counselors can assist you in defining your educational and career goals;planning a program of study for transfer and/or direct employment that incorporates yourinterests, abilities, and career goals; and directing you to other college resources. Counselorsand faculty advisors provide students with academic advising through interest inventories(MBTI, Strong) and support in personal issues.Students who are newly admitted to <strong>Cochise</strong> <strong>College</strong> on the Douglas and Sierra Vista campuseswill be assigned a counselor. Students are encouraged to visit with their counselor foracademic planning for the next semester. Online students and those enrolled at each centerwill be provided with counseling support scheduled through the SDC. Call your center foravailable appointments to see a counselor. All students are encouraged to visit the StudentDevelopment Center to ensure that they receive academic support prior to class scheduling.To have adequate time for advising and transcript evaluation, see a counselor or advisor wellbefore you register for classes.
