6COCHISE COLLEGE FALL 2009 SCHEDULE OF CLASSESLegal Resident, Refugee or Temporary Resident StudentsIf you are in the United States as a legal resident, refugee, or temporary resident, submit anAdmissions application and present your valid Immigration Status Card. You may need toimprove your English proficiency before enrolling in college-level courses.Border CommutersMexican citizens can attend Cochise College as border commuters. They must be seeking adegree, live in Mexico and have an F-1 student visa. Contact the International Student Officeat (520) 417-4038. Since the paperwork is complex, plan to begin the process at least twomonths before you plan to attend Cochise College.International StudentsCochise College defines an international student as a student attending Cochise Collegewhile on an F-1 visa. International students are considered non-resident students for tuitionand fee purposes. International students may apply for one of two areas of study:• For students who do not have college-level English skills, the English as a SecondLanguage (ESL) program on the Douglas Campus and at the Nogales/Santa Cruz Center,or• A traditional academic program leading to an associate degree.For information on admission and registration requirements, contact the InternationalStudent Office at international@cochise.edu or (520) 417-4038.Students Taking Online CoursesCochise College offers an expanding array of courses, certificates and degrees online. Thesecourses meet the same criteria as traditional classes. They use the resources of the World WideWeb to enrich your educational experience. You can make your own class schedule to meetyour personal needs. Students can apply to Cochise College, browse online class offerings,register and pay for classes, consult an academic counselor, contact instructors, and participatein class discussions and assignments on the Web.For more information, visit the Online Campus at www.cochise.edu. You'll find informationabout the courses, tuition, financial aid, how to use Web Study student learning system,and answers to frequently asked questions. You can take an online assessment to see if onlineclasses are for you.Aviation StudentsSpecial application procedures are in place for students interested in aviation departmentprograms: Professional Flight (PFT) and Avionics (AVT). If you wish to be admitted to oneof these programs, contact the Aviation Department admission specialist located on theDouglas Campus at (520) 417-4114 or via e-mail at aviation@cochise.edu. Information aboutprograms may also be secured through the Aviation Department Web site atwww.cochise.edu. A nonrefundable deposit is required for all aviation programs beforeadmission can be considered. The deposit will be refunded by the Aviation Department if thestudent is not accepted into the program.Associate Degree Nursing StudentsWhile admission to Cochise College is the initial step for entrance into the nursing program,it does not guarantee acceptance. Nursing is a limited-enrollment curriculum that frequentlyhas more applicants than can be accepted.You will need to follow special application procedures if you wish to be admitted to the

The deadline for submitting an application to the nursing program for thefall semester is March 1 and is available online at www.cochise.edu. Those students who haveapplied by the deadline will be notified in March of the Nursing Entrance Test (NET). TheNET, which is given on several dates and times in April, is a four-hour test comprised ofEnglish comprehension, science, and algebra. The cost of the NET is payable at time of registrationonline by credit card. Students must meet the application deadline and all applicationdocumentation must be on file in order to register for the NET. The nursing program is designated"limited entry," which means you must qualify to be admitted into the program.Candidates admitted to the program will be notified by late May for the fall semester.The Arizona State Board of Nursing denies licenses to individuals with a felony convictionwho have not been fully discharged for five years prior to applying for a license. Contact theNursing Department or the Arizona State Board of Nursing for information regarding thisregulation.Specific information on the admission and selection procedures and dates is availableonline and through the Nursing Department. Students in the following programs are potential candidates, dependingon the particular course, for immunization policy requirements.• Emergency medical technician• Nursing• Paramedicine• Medical assistantIf you plan to register for one of these programs, call (520) 417-4016 or (520) 515-5309 forinformation about your minimum immunization requirements.Honors StudentsCochise College offers an honors program for those who want an extra challenge in theireducational experience. The challenges afforded by the program lead to confidence in intellectualability and enhance the academic potential of all participants. You may apply to thehonors program if you have completed 12 credits in courses from the general education curriculumleading to a degree at Cochise College, are enrolled in a degree program, and have atleast a 3.5 grade point average. For information on the honors program, contact the StudentDevelopment Center at either campus.Disability ServicesIf you are a person with a disability and require auxiliary aids, services, or other accommodationsas a student at Cochise College, contact the director of Disability Services approximatelythree weeks in advance of registration to discuss your accommodation needs. Call theSierra Vista Campus at (520) 515-5337 or the Douglas Campus at (520) 417-4023.Auditing ClassesIf you wish to enroll in a course for no grade, you may audit the class.
