Activity Status CodesOnce <strong>groundwater</strong> contamination has been confirmed, either the regulated entity or an agency will address the<strong>groundwater</strong> contamination incident. Confirmed incidents of contamination are generally addressed byfollowing predictable sequence of actions until it is concluded that no further actions are necessary orrequired. Once contamination has been detected or is suspected, initial actions consist of validation ofsampling results or quality assurance controls to confirm contamination has occurred and is man-induced. Aninvestigation to study the extent, composition, and circumstances of the contamination follows theconfirmation of contamination.Additional actions may or may not be required based on the investigation findings. If the investigation findsthat further actions are required, the planning of corrective action measures to address the contamination andsource are initiated. Following the development of the corrective action plan, actions are taken to implementthe plan and physically address the contamination and source. The effectiveness of the corrective actionmeasures is generally monitored during and after the implementation of the plan. Ultimately, the correctiveaction measures are considered completed when the site has been remediated, the source has been removed, orwhen no further actions are required.
