<strong>September</strong> 9-10, 2008 31357ACQUISITION IN SUPPORT OF A SPONSORED PROGRAM – NCAt <strong>the</strong> <strong>September</strong> 2007 meeting, <strong>the</strong> Board authorized <strong>the</strong> President or his designee tocompete, negotiate, and award a contract in an estimated annual amount <strong>of</strong> $2,400,000 to <strong>the</strong>supplier representing best value, for air traffic instructional support services, pursuant to aproject sponsored by <strong>the</strong> Federal Aviation Administration, and report back to <strong>the</strong> Board <strong>the</strong>results <strong>of</strong> such actions at <strong>the</strong> earliest opportunity.The University continues its important affiliation with <strong>the</strong> FAA and reinforces <strong>the</strong>University’s strong programmatic capability to provide cutting edge technical training, as well as<strong>the</strong> promotion and development <strong>of</strong> new and ongoing research for o<strong>the</strong>r University departmentssuch as Aeronautical Engineering. Receipt <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> FAA project places <strong>the</strong> University in <strong>the</strong>forefront <strong>of</strong> aviation-related activities in <strong>the</strong> public and private sectors, and provides <strong>the</strong> indirectbenefit <strong>of</strong> creating opportunities to establish a presence in <strong>the</strong> international, national, regional,and state arenas in <strong>the</strong> aviation industry.The specific goal served by this agenda item is <strong>the</strong> inclusion and selection <strong>of</strong> a smallbusiness enterprise that employs qualified air traffic instructors, and that <strong>of</strong>fers best value to <strong>the</strong>FAA, through its contract with <strong>the</strong> University.In response to a competitive solicitation, <strong>the</strong> following firms responded:Advancia CorporationHyperNet Solutions, Inc.Interim Solutions for GovernmentI.S. Proposals from Hypernet Solutions Inc. and Interim Solutions forGovernment were considered but included cost proposals deemed inadequate for comparison <strong>of</strong>pricing and were not responsive to <strong>the</strong> Request for Proposal.
