4.3 Results of questionnaire
Two hundred questionnaires were distributed and one hundred forty were returned
completed. The questionnaire had two parts; the first part dealt with respondents’
profile, while the second part focused on the content, style and format of “Dewel”
radio program.
The results from the questionnaires are presented in percentages, and will be
discussed in detail in the section ‘Discussion’, using qualitative method. Thus, in
this section, only the findings of the survey are presented.
Profile of respondents
The results from the questionnaire show that 58% are male while 42% are female.
0.09% percent are from the age group of 15-25, 41.1% from 26-35, 44.1% from
36-50 and 14.7% are from 50 and above. (Please see Annex A, Table 2)
Regarding their educational background, 10% have completed high school, 20.4%
are diploma holders, 16.7% are first degree holders, 30% at post graduate level
and 22.5% have not attended formal education. (Please see Annex A, Table 3)
30% of the respondents are government employee, while 9% are working in the
private sector. 12% are self employed, while 14% works for NGOs. 13% are
students, 17% unemployed and 5% are retired. (Please see Annex A, Table 3)
