Washington State PatrolLease of towers rings up revenue for state coffersThe State Patrol has an inventory of 70 communications towers throughout thestate. The federal Communications Act of 1996 allowed construction of towersystems by communications companies to meet the growing demand for cellulartelephone systems.The Patrol developed a competitive program to provide the companies withleasing of space on agency towers.Results★ Annual state revenue of $7,000 to $10,000 per site.
