Trends II (<strong>Course</strong> # 1238)The course focus will be on the advanced development and enhancement <strong>of</strong> new and current trends inhealth and fitness for the student who demonstrates an interest in the development and understanding <strong>of</strong>advanced trends, concepts, and techniques. Students will engage in stress management and relaxationtraining with a more in‐depth understanding <strong>of</strong> the relationship between mind and body. Students willultimately understand the importance <strong>of</strong> living a healthy lifestyle.Strength Through Fitness II (<strong>Course</strong> #1246)Advanced strength and conditioning course designed to meet the individual students' need for a higherlevel <strong>of</strong> development within human performance. This course focus will concentrate on the advanceddevelopment and enhancement <strong>of</strong> key strength and conditioning components for the student whodemonstrates an interest in the development and understanding <strong>of</strong> basic to advanced strength andconditioning concepts. Development <strong>of</strong> advanced training techniques, design <strong>of</strong> personal fitness programsusing the most up‐to‐date technology techniques, along with analysis <strong>of</strong> personal and Olympic trainingtechniques will be emphasized. Introduction <strong>of</strong> movement mechanics related to speed and athleticmovement will also be covered. This advanced course will feature highly structured workouts with regardto workout intensity and exercise frequency. This course will be performance driven from workout,technique analysis, and personal program development.SAQ (Speed, Agility & Quickness) (<strong>Course</strong> #1248)Students will incorporate the fundamentals <strong>of</strong> speed training with the development <strong>of</strong> muscular balance,core control and integrated flexibility while participating in class activities. Students will learn aboutacceleration, maximum velocity, quickness and multidirectional movements and how these componentsrelate to a successful overall healthy body performance. Students will experience cutting edge instructionin functional training techniques and equipment. SAQ will be complemented with team fitness relatedactivities. Functional speed, agility and quickness training should result in overall better physical activityperformance.STAND ALONE ELECTIVE … (course does not count as Phy Ed/Health credit requirement)Officiating (<strong>Course</strong> #1228)This class will help students break into the exciting field <strong>of</strong> sports <strong>of</strong>ficiating. This class will teach studentshow to become a registered (WIAA) <strong>of</strong>ficial, the rules <strong>of</strong> the game, how to study and apply rules, where tobe in the field/court to make a call, how to handle tough situations with players, coaches, and fans, as wellas other issues faced by <strong>of</strong>ficials. The class involves both dedicated study <strong>of</strong> the rules and active participationin order to learn the skills necessary to be a successful <strong>of</strong>ficial. Through simulated game activities<strong>of</strong>ficials will gain experience on how to make and report calls during a contest and participate in the funand fitness that accompanies this experience51
