Leadership for Healthcare Providers (<strong>Course</strong> #4028)Everyone can be a leader, whether it is in school, on a team, for an organization, or in the community. Thiscourse is highly recommended for students who want to get involved. This course will make students moreaware <strong>of</strong> the implications and challenges they face as tomorrow's leaders. Problem solving, conflictresolution, diversity, ethics, effective leadership, creative thinking, team development, among others arecomponents <strong>of</strong> this class that will be emphasized.Health Occupations Academy IV (<strong>Course</strong> #8065)This year‐long course is required for all Academy seniors. This course will explore a variety <strong>of</strong> healthcaremodalities. Students will explore and gain knowledge in various therapies, anatomy, and physiology. Thefirst semester <strong>of</strong> this course will allow students to learn and perform vital signs, CPR and first aid. Medicalissues dealing with disease states, body systems and functions will also be taught. Relevant terminologyand abbreviations will be emphasized. In the second semester students will gain knowledge <strong>of</strong> patienttreatments, diagnosis and specialized fields. An introduction <strong>of</strong> surgeries, pharmacology, healthassessment and alternative medicine will also be taught. Students in this course are encouraged toparticipate in the Medical Co‐op Program or the Health Occupations Youth Apprenticeship Program.Students will also be required to complete a senior mastery project, which will require strategiccommunity partnerships.Introduction to Computer Applications for Healthcare Providers(<strong>Course</strong> #4058)Transcripted CreditThis course provides an introduction to basic computer functions and applications utilized in contemporaryhealthcare settings. Students are introduced to the hardware and s<strong>of</strong>tware components <strong>of</strong> moderncomputer systems and the application <strong>of</strong> computers in the workplace.
