Leadership for Healthcare Providers (Course #4028)Everyone can be a leader, whether it is in school, on a team, for an organization, or in the community. Thiscourse is highly recommended for students who want to get involved. The purpose of this course is tofoster and further develop leadership and communication skills. This course will make students moreaware of the implications and challenges they face as tomorrow's leaders. Problem solving, conflictresolution, diversity, ethics, effective leadership, creative thinking, team development, among others arecomponents of this class that will be emphasized.Health Occupations Academy IV (Course #8065)This year‐long course is required for all Academy seniors. This course will explore a variety of healthcaremodalities. Students will explore and gain knowledge in various therapies, anatomy, and physiology. Thefirst semester of this course will allow students to learn and perform vital signs, CPR and first aid. Medicalissues dealing with disease states, body systems and functions will also be taught. Relevant terminologyand abbreviations will be emphasized. In the second semester students will gain knowledge of patienttreatments, diagnosis and specialized fields. An introduction of surgeries, pharmacology, healthassessment and alternative medicine will also be taught.
