Every year I try toimprove the interface of my course web pages tobe more clean, efficient, and effective. Over thepast four years I have done three majorredesigns, and each semester I make smallimprovements to the interface.My most recent course web pages areintended to provide a “big picture” overview of theentire semester to the students. To achieve this, Iinclude various interface elements tocommunicate important aspects of the course.For example, at the top of each course web pageI include a “Major Assignment List” table thatitemizes all large assignments and due dates forthe course on a visual week-by-week timeline sostudents can get a quick overview of thecoursework.Next I include an interactive calendar thatautomatically shows the current week at the topand any assignments that are due within the nextfour weeks.
