Please seethe NMA Leadership appendix section for asample of one of my NMA presentation.NMA is a select admissions program whereprospective students submit a portfolio for reviewbefore being admitted. Every year the NMAcoordinator must organize this event along withthe NMA counselor. Every semester the NMAcoordinator is responsible for developing thecourse schedule. We have four full time facultyand approximately six lecturers per year.Every year we host an annual student showfor graduating students and are invited toparticipate in annual and biannual student showsat the Koa Gallery. The NMA coordinator isresponsible for organizing this show by sendinginvites, ordering food, and giving a welcomespeech at the event.Lastly, as NMA coordinator I spearheadedthe discussion and creation of our new programStudent Learning Outcomes (SLO’s). I led theconversation with local professionals at our lastNMA Advisory Board meeting in December 2008(please see the meeting minutes within the NMALeadership section of the appendix). I alsoorganized our first annual program SLOassessment meeting in May of 2009, where Igathered faculty to evaluate student work inrelation to our new program SLO’s. We identifiedseveral areas for program improvement, and Idocumented our findings in the 2009 NMAProgram Annual Assessment report (see theNMA Leadership appendix).To conclude, I have listed the manyresponsibilities that are both typical of standarddiscipline coordinators and those that are uniqueto the NMA coordinator below. An abbreviatedversion of this outline can be found in the NMALeadership appendix section. Within each of theitems listed below, I provided additional detail onthe various duties that each entails.Standard NMA Program Coordinator Duties include:! Being the primary contact person! Duties: respond to emails, attend meetings! Organize Monthly Program Meetings! Duties: write up agendas, send invites, and take meeting minutes.! Scheduling for as many as 20 different NMA courses each semester! Duties: meeting with four full-time faculty and six part-time lecturers, coordinating threeclassroom/lab schedules! Hiring NMA lecturers! Duties: recruiting, organizing and conducting interviews for lecturers, helping orient andmentor new faculty.! Program Review! Duties: writing the annual Health Indicator Report and the three-year ComprehensiveProgram Review.! Curriculum Update! Duties: updating the 5-year review curriculum documents.! Annual Assessment of Program SLO’s! Duties: scheduling an annual meeting of faculty, updating program SLO’s, updating theassessment rubric, taking measures to improve the program.!
