Web Page FieldsItemDocument Type DefinitionURLDescriptionContains the URL portion of the DTD.Together, the previous two columns and this one makeup the !DOCTYPE tag used by Self-Service applications. If you do not alter the delivered values, the !DOCTYPEtag for each Web page will look like this:This tag is used almost exclusively for validationpurposes.Validation occurs when someone (usually a Webdeveloper) takes the static HTML that is generated foreach Web page and inputs it to a validation tool. The tagforces the tools to validate according to the HTML 4.01Frameset DTD.The !DOCTYPE statement tells the browser how tointerpret your page. Based on how your DTD is built, the browser will switch between Standard and Quirkmode. In Standard mode, the browser will render the HTML incompliance with the latest standards. In Quirk mode, thebrowser will render the HTML as though it were writtenfor older, quirkier browsers. Quirk mode allowsworkarounds for older browsers to work in the latestbrowsers.Since the Self-Service Web pages need to work on botholder and newer browsers, the values delivered in thethree new columns will make up an !DOCTYPE tag thatwill force the browsers to render in Quirk mode.Language ISO 639-1The value in this field is assigned to the LANG attributein the HTML tag on all Self-Service web pages. Thisattribute specifies the base language of an element'sattribute values and text content. Values should conformto ISO 639 standards.January 2010 Banner Web Tailor 8.3 3-17User GuideUsing Web Tailor
