In addition to organizational culture and arrangements for the<br />

execution of its processes management has a responsibility<br />

for creating a climate in which people are motivated to work<br />

willingly and effectively.<br />

Succinctly put, organizational climate can be “said to relate to<br />

the prevailing atmosphere surrounding the organization to<br />

the level of morale, and to the strength of feelings or<br />

belonging, care and goodwill among members (Mullins,<br />

1996).<br />

Organizational Effectiveness and Performance<br />

Concern for organizational effectiveness is a necessary<br />

requirement for organizational survival and relevance. To<br />

assess the effectiveness, or success of an organization is not an<br />

easy task, as it entails analyzing both the definitive structure<br />

and the one caused by human intervention (Mullins, 1996).<br />

The criteria for measuring success may differ from one type of<br />

organization to another. Success may be short-lived but one<br />

thing is central, that is, “the importance of achieving<br />

productive result through the effective management of people<br />

and their commitment to and involvement with the<br />

organization”(Mullins, 1996).<br />
