General Statement of Health & Safety Policy1. The Award<strong>in</strong>g Centre aims to provide and ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>, <strong>in</strong>sofar as is reasonable and practicable, a safe andhealthy work<strong>in</strong>g environment and to enlist the support of its staff and students toward achiev<strong>in</strong>g theseends.2. The Award<strong>in</strong>g Centre accepts that employers, employees, and other parties covered by health and safetylegislation, have a collective duty to take action preventative of work-related <strong>in</strong>jury, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g work-relatedstress, <strong>in</strong>sofar as this is reasonable and practicable.B. Organization of Health & Safety Duties1. Health and safety with<strong>in</strong> the organization, and risk assessment, is primarily the responsibility of the healthand safety officer whose details can be found <strong>in</strong> the student handbook.2. All staff and students have a collective duty to identify and prevent risks <strong>in</strong>sofar as it is reasonable andpracticable for them to do so. The health and safety officer should be <strong>in</strong>formed immediately of any<strong>in</strong>formation relat<strong>in</strong>g to potential or actual risks <strong>in</strong> respect of the Award<strong>in</strong>g Centre‘s premises or activities.C. Arrangements for Implementation1. The health and safety officer is responsible for risk assessment of the premises and activities of theAward<strong>in</strong>g Centre <strong>in</strong> accord with standard UK health and safety legislation.2. Where appropriate, records will be ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>ed by the health and safety officer <strong>in</strong> accord with the relevantlegislation.3. Risk assessments will be reviewed on an annual basis, or where changes to the environment render itappropriate to re-assess new or exist<strong>in</strong>g risk factors.Company InsuranceThe Award<strong>in</strong>g Centre carries company <strong>in</strong>surance and full cover for the activities which it undertakes.
