Stat. § 13D.05, Subd. 3(b), the St. Louis County Boardmay close a meeting as permitted by the attorney/client privilege.WHEREAS, the County Attorney requires discussion on potential settlement and litigationstrategy with the County Board in a closed session of the Committee of the Whole.NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the St. Louis County Board will convene in aclosed meeting of the Committee of the Whole for the purpose of discussing settlement andlitigation strategy immediately following the Board meeting.Unanimously adopted November 22, 2011. No. 611Upon motion by Commissioner Nelson, supported by Commissioner Sweeney, resolutionsnumbered 612 through 627, as submitted to this Board on a second consent agenda, wereunanimously adopted as follows:BY COMMISSIONER NELSON:WHEREAS, the St. Louis County Public Works Department 2011 equipment budgetincludes the addition of an 80,000 pound crawler mounted hydraulic excavator; andWHEREAS, pricing was researched from two vendors with available state contract pricingfor new and near new machines; andWHEREAS, Ziegler, Inc., offered the least expensive, near new unit of the acceptableexcavators at the State of Minnesota contract price of $264,570, plus state sales tax of$18,189.19 for a total cost of $282,759.19.NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the St. Louis County Board authorizes thepurchase of a Caterpillar near new 336EL crawler excavator from Ziegler, Inc., of Duluth,Minnesota, at the State of Minnesota contract price of $282,759.19 (including state salestax), payable from Fund 407, Agency 407001, Object 666400.Adopted November 22, 2011. No. 612WHEREAS, it is recommended that the St. Louis County Board approve a Memorandum ofAgreement (MOA) between the county and University of Minnesota to provide specificExtension programs within St. Louis County and for Extension staff to perform theseservices; andWHEREAS, the proposed MOA is for one year beginning January 1, 2012, throughDecember 31, 2012, including three positions identified as 4-H Program Coordinator (2.75FTEs) for a total contract price of $178,475.NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the St. Louis County Board authorizes theappropriate county officials to sign the 2012 Memorandum of Agreement with the Universityof Minnesota to provide Extension programs totaling $178,475, payable from Fund 184,Agency 184001, Object 629900 - $129,800; and Fund 184, Agency 186002, Object 629900 -$48,675.Adopted November 22, 2011.
