The book was officially launched at<strong>the</strong> Museum towards <strong>the</strong> end of April.This picture shows <strong>the</strong> authors at <strong>the</strong> launch event with Colin Harding, Curator of Photographic Technology at<strong>the</strong> National Media Museum. He has suggested that <strong>the</strong> Museum’s collection of over 600 Stephen Pegler imagesshould be classified as being of national importance.Pegler once lived in <strong>the</strong> house now occupied by <strong>the</strong> Museum <strong>and</strong> was one of <strong>the</strong> first commercial photographersto specialise in <strong>the</strong> Autochrome colour photography process. He travelled far <strong>and</strong> wide to capture both local <strong>and</strong><strong>for</strong>eign people <strong>and</strong> l<strong>and</strong>scapes documenting everyday life in Britain <strong>and</strong> beyond in <strong>the</strong> early 20th century.The Pegler Autochromes housed at <strong>Bassetlaw</strong> Museum are thought to be <strong>the</strong> largest collection by onephotographer in Britain today.
