for Systems Research. One of the inventors of the “Semantic Web,” Hendler
was the recipient of a 1995 Fulbright Foundation Fellowship and is a fellow of the
American Association for Artificial Intelligence.
Kevin.Hughes.is a member of the Department of Surgical Oncology at the Massachusetts
General Hospital, USA, where he is the surgical director of the Breast
Screening Program, surgical director of the Breast and Ovarian Cancer Genetics
and Risk Assessment Program, and co-director of the Avon Comprehensive Breast
Evaluation Center. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Medical School, and
trained at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh for general surgery. He did a fellowship in
surgical oncology at the National Cancer Institute. Dr. Hughes is an assistant professor
of surgery at Harvard Medical School and was formerly on the faculty of Tufts
University, the University of California, Davis and Brown University. Dr. Hughes
has served on numerous national and regional committees and is actively involved
in research regarding the genetics, screening, and diagnosis and treatment of breast
cancer. He is the author of numerous papers and book chapters on the subjects of
breast cancer, screening, diagnosis and treatment, and risk assessment.
Lakshmi.Iyer.is a faculty member in the Information Systems and Operations Management
Department at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, USA. She
obtained her PhD from the University of Georgia, Athens. Her research interests are
in the area of electronic commerce, global issues in IS, intelligent agents, decision
support systems, knowledge management, and cluster analysis. Her research work
has been published or accepted for publication in CACM, eService Journal, Annals
of OR, DSS, Journal of Global Information Technology Management, Journal of
Scientific & Industrial Research, Encyclopedia of ORMS, Journal of Information
Technology Management, Journal of Data Warehousing, and Industrial Management
and Data Systems.
Aditya.Kalyanpur.is a PhD student at the University of Maryland, USA, and a
GRA at MINDSWAP. His research interests broadly lie in ontology engineering
for the Semantic Web with a focus on tool support for editing, refactoring, annotating,
searching, and debugging ontology data. He is also the principal author of
SWOOP.
Olena.Kaykova, 1960, received her engineer-system-analytic degree on automatic
control systems from Kharkov State Technical University of Radioelectronics (Kh-
NURE) (1982). She became a candidate of technical sciences in 1989 on technical
cybernetics and information theory. She was acting as docent of the Software De-
