partment (1992), docent of the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Information
Systems (1997), and docent of the Artificial Intelligence Department (1999). She
was acting as deputy vice-rector on international research co-operation since 1996
and since 1999 has been co-ordinator of international and European affairs in Kh-
NURE. Her area of research interests include: artificial intelligence: logic, temporal
reasoning, AI and statistics. She is the director of the Metaintelligence Laboratory
in KhNURE, the co-ordinator of the co-operation and exchange program with the
University of Jyväskylä (Finland). Until recently, she had been acting as a study
advisor on mobile computing in the MSc program at the University of Jyväskylä
(October 2000). Since January 2003 she has been a member of the ‘Industrial Ontologies
Group’ research group. She has nearly 40 scientific publications — 10 of
which are in internationally recognised magazines and conferences.
Oleksiy.Khriyenko.obtained his engineer’s degree in computer sciences (a study
line is intelligent decision support systems) in June 2003 from the Kharkov National
University of Radioelectronics (KhNURE), Ukraine. He is also involved with the
Master of Science, Department of Mathematical Information Technology (a study
line is mobile computing). He obtained this degree in December 2003 from the
University of Jyväskylä, Finland. Now he is a postgraduate student with the Department
of Mathematical Information Technology (University of Jyväskylä). He has
been a member of the ‘Industrial Ontologies Group’ research group (http://www.
cs.jyu.fi/ai/OntoGroup/) since January 2003 and a researcher with the Agora Center
(research center in Jyväskylä). His research interests include: artificial intelligence,
Semantic Web, agent technology, Web-services, distributed resource integration,
context aware adaptive environments and the industrial application of these and
new mobile technologies.
Ozgur.Kilic.recevied a BS in computer engineering in 1998 from the Bilkent University.
He recevied an MS in computer engineering in 2001 from the Middle East
Technical University (METU), Turkey. He is currently a PhD student in computer
engineering at the Middle East Technical University.
Christoph. Koch. is an assistant professor at Vienna University of Technology,
Austria. His research mainly focuses on databases theory and systems.
Dmytro.Kovtun.graduated from the National Mining Academy of Ukraine (mine
surveying line) in 1995. In 2003 he graduated from Kharkov National University
of Radioelectronics, Ukraine (intelligent decision support systems line). In 2004 he
graduated from the University of Jyväskylä, Finland (mobile computing line). His
career is in the area of information technologies and was started in 1999 with the
