Gifts by South Carolina Baptist churches during 2005 set a new record<br />

for gifts to world missions causes. For 2005 gifts received through the South<br />

Carolina Baptist Convention totaled $48,95 1,867 which was an increase of<br />

$1,653,925 over2OO4.<br />

The 2005 South Carolina Baptist Convention Empowering Kingdom<br />

Growth budget goal of $32, I 50,000 was met and exceeded. Budget gifts totaled<br />

$32,193,209 which was $43,209 more than the budget goal.<br />

Each year the Convention engages an independent accounting firm to<br />

audit the financial records of the Convention. The fim of JW Hunt and<br />

Company conducted the audit ofthe 2005 financial records ofthe Convention.<br />

Cooperative Program gifts totaled $31,868,531 which exceeded the budget goal<br />

for Cooperative Program gifts by $43,53 l. Cooperative gifts for 2005 totaled<br />

$324,678 which was an increase of $68,628.<br />

Gifts to the three Weeks of Prayer offerings from South Carolina<br />

Baptist churches totaled $13,288,773. Gifts for the Lottie Moon offering totaled<br />

$7,999,494 or a decrease of $373, I 60 or 4.46Vo. The Annie Armstrong offering<br />

received $3,554,499 which was a decrease of $117,322 or 3.2OVo. The Janie<br />

Chapman offering totaled $1,734,780 which was a decrease of $36,437, or<br />

2.06Vo.<br />

There were two significant needs during 2005 that caused South<br />

Carolina Baptists to respond in an extraordinary way. The financial crisis at SC<br />

Baptist Ministries for the Aging led SC Baptists to give $367,667 through the<br />

Convention's Accounting office for the Mother's Day Offering. The impact of<br />

hurricanes Katrina and Rita caused South Carolina to give in an unprecedented<br />

way to disaster relief. Churches gave very generously for disaster relief<br />

providing atotal of $1,843,244for victims of hurricanes in the Gulf coast area.<br />

The budget goal for the 2006 South Carolina Baptist Convention<br />

Empowering Kingdom Growth budget totals $32,150,000. It is anticipated that<br />

the budget goal will be met by the end ofthe year.<br />

Arrangements are underway for the annual meeting of the South<br />

Carolina Baptist Convention in 2006 at Taylors First Baptist Church. This will<br />

be the first meeting outside of the Columbia area since 1999.<br />

Assistance has been provided to the Executive Director Appreciation<br />

Committee in planning a time of recognition for Dr. B. Carlisle Driggers during<br />

the Tuesday evening session of the Convention.
