Proceedings<br />

Bill Henry, director, Network Partnerships, Church Resources<br />

Division, brought greetings on behalf of LifeWay Christian Resources.<br />

Susan Wilhoit, manager, Client Education, brought greetings on<br />

behalf of GuideStone Financial Resources.<br />

Carlos Ferrer, interim chief operating officer and vice president of<br />

Financial and Organizational Services, brought greetings on behalf of North<br />

American Mission Board. Also, on behalf of the North American Mission<br />

Board, Ferrer presented a Thomas Kincaid painting to Driggers in<br />

appreciation for his years at the <strong>Home</strong> Mission Board and for his leadership<br />

throughout the Southern Baptist Convention. Ferrer also recognized Ted and<br />

Tammy Keller, who serve as chaplains at the Flying J Truck Stop in<br />

Columbia, as Mission Service Corps Missionaries of the Year by the North<br />

American Mission Board.<br />

Neill Mims, regional strategy associate, South Asia Region,<br />

brought greetings on behalf of the Intemational Mission Board. In<br />

appreciation for the South Asia partnership with International Mission<br />

Board and South Carolina Baptists, Mims presented to Driggers a picture<br />

featuring a world of many faces which included Driggers' picture in the<br />

center.<br />

Jack Wilkerson, vice president, Business and Finance, brought<br />

greetings on behalf of the Executive Committee, SBC, and presented to<br />

Driggers a framed resolution of appreciation which was adopted by the SBC<br />

Executive Committee in September.<br />

Business Session<br />

Hans Wunch, messenger from Calvary Church, Ware Shoals,<br />

made the following motion: "I move that the Executive Board of the South<br />

Carolina Baptist Convention form a committee to study and come up with a<br />

plan to change our state Cooperative Program percentages from its cuffent<br />

60Vo instate and 40Va national to 50Vo instate and 50Vo national, and report<br />

back at our meeting next November."<br />

This was referred to the Order of Business Committee.<br />

Gregory Dry, messenger from First Baptist Church Spartanburg,<br />

said that he is aware that on page R-l13 of the Convention Book of Reports<br />

concerning resolutions, it states resolutions must be presented in writing<br />

thirty days before the start of the convention. He would like to present a<br />

resolution concerning same-sex marriage. This resolution is based on the<br />

2003 resolution passed by the Southern Baptist Convention, but it would<br />

make a statement from the group today and would need the vote of the<br />

messengers to hear it.<br />

Wilton requested that Dry present a motion for recommendation.<br />

Dry made the following motion: "I would move, it would require<br />

a suspension of Bylaws, that we poll the messengers to at least hear the
