WHEREAS, he will have completed seventeen vears of
invaluable leadership to the South Carotina Baptist Convention when he
retires in February, 2007; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Driggers has spent the last fifteen years as the
Executive-Director Treasurer of this Convention; and
WHEREAS, he has taught and encouraged thousands of people
to engage the culture, evangelize the lost and disciple new Christians;
and
WHEREAS, Dr. and Mrs. Driggers have represented South
Carolina and our Lord through missions activities in the United States
and many foreign countries; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Driggers has been a leader among leaders in
the Southern Baptist Convention; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Driggers was instrumental in the birth of the
Empowering Kingdom Growth movement; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that we recognize his contributions to our
churches and his concern for all people; and be it further
RESOLVED, that we pray that the Lord will sustain the
ministries in which the Driggers'a.re, and will be, involved; and be it
further
RESOLVED, that we commit to pray rhat the Lord will
continue to bless Dr. and Mrs. Driggers with good health and many
opportunities to share their wisdom and knowledge; and be it frnally
RESOLVED, that we, the messengers to the 186ftannual
meeting of the South Carolina Baptist Convention meeting at Taylors
First Baptist Church on November 14,2O06, express our appreciation to
the Driggers and commend them for their devotion and commitment to
the Southem Baptist Convention, the South Carolina Baptist Convention
and toward expanding the Kingdom of God.
The vote was taken, and the resolution was adopted.
On behalf of the Resolutions Committee. Vice Chairman Mitchell
presented a framed Resolution of Appreciation for Dr. B. Carlisle Driggers
to Driggers in appreciation for his service with SC Baptist Convention.
21. Baptist Foundation of S.C. Report. President Weldon Fallaw
said the Foundation helps people understand the value of giving and using
current resources to provide investment for the future. He reported that on
April 1, 2006,the Foundation employed a long-standing trustee, Lonnie
Shull, as a part-time field consultant to go into the churches and talk about
the ministry of the Baptist Foundation. Fallaw highlighted areas of his
