Executives. These two associations are made up of CEO's and top administrators
of children's homes tlroughout the country who share ideas and offer networking
assistance at their conferences.
In May, Connie Maxwell hosted at the Greenwood campus the SC
Baptist Foundation board for one of its trustee meetings. This gave the
Foundation and Connie Maxwell the opportunity to learn more about each other
and to work more closely together as sister agencies of the Convention. It was
good to have the Foundation trustees and administration on our czrmpus.
Also, the Convention's Seniors Ministry held'A Day on the Farm" at
Connie Maxwell in October for seniors from churches throughout our state.
Hundreds of "senior saints" had the chance to see thet childcal's ministry up close
as they visited the farm, the church and the other facilities on our Greenwood
campus. We are delighted to have tle opportunity to host groups such as this.
In September, we hosted a major youth rally in Greenwood as we
participated with the Lakelands Baptist Association and local churches to bring a
speaker and Christian bands to the campus. Many of the association's churches
assisted with this effort and most brought their youth to participate.
Connie Maxwell had another record-breaking year of volunteer service
from individuals and church groups. Over 7,200 hours were given by almost
1200 volunteers who assisted with recreation and Bible-study with the kids,
tutoring, physical labor efforts and other needed mini51ry opportunities. We are
pleased and fhankful to receive this help each year. Volunteers allow us to
conserve money that would usually have to be paid to professional laborers and
instead designate it for the benefit ofour children.
Because ofthe generosity ofcaring Baptists, children from Connie
Maxwell's minishy enjoyed summer camps at Camp McCall, Camp La Vida and
Centrifuge. Many young people made decisions during these weeks that will
shape their lives for years to come. These decisions are reinforced at each ofour
campuses as the children attend South Carolina Baptist churches in their
communities or Connie Maxwell Baptist Church in Greenwood. Each year, the
Connie Maxwell church sends out student mission groups. In 2006, Connie
Maxwell young people did repair work at a home in Nortl Charleston tlrough the
Charleston Baptist Association and led Sports/Bible Qlinics. Our senior high
students continually work through the Habitat program and donate blood through
the American Red Cross. Our other campuses have been involved in the mission
efforts of the local church where they attend. We believe it is important for our
children who are receiving minisky from others to be a part of minis{sring
themselves.
The Connie lfaxwell Christmas event was another major success last
year, and we invite our Baptist friends to join us in Greenwood this year the
nights of December 7, 8 and 9. The entire campus is decorated, horse-drawn
wagons carry visitors through our facilrty, and the children perform in our church
nightly. There is no charge, and everyone is invited.
We are blessed to partner with South Cmolina Baptists and to have
God's leadership and guidance in this necessary ministry for boys and girls.
Please keep our children and staffin your prayers.
