anymore than you can break the laws of gravity or the natural laws. There is a naturallaw that once one is a Stream Winner one has to end sasāra sooner or later. Onecannot stop it because there is no one in here to stop it. It’s all running according tothe natural law of cause and effect. From the cessation of this, that ceases, imassanirodha – eta nirujjhati: from the cessation of the stupidity of thinking that there issomeone inside, that you are the owner of things, a possessor of experiences, of will, and of knowing – sasāra soon ceases. It does not happen automatically the next moment, sometimes it takes seven years orseven lifetimes. But at least you know ida nirujjhati, that these five khandhas, thewhole of nāma rūpa, this whole world that you know – that you think is somethingreal but which is just an empty process – will cease and end. Isn’t it wonderful that itcan end? The Buddha kept on saying, “Nibbāna parama sukha”, Nibbāna is theultimate happiness. If you don’t believe that then just end things slightly, give thingsaway, let go of things, and you will see that the more you let go the more happinessyou get. End a lot and you get a lot of happiness; end completely and you get theultimate happiness, the complete happiness of Nibbāna. So this is just the cause andeffect nature of the mind, the cause and effect nature of the world. There is no Godrunning all of this, there is no self inside you planning all of this, it’s just a process. You’re fortunate to be brainwashed by this talk on the Law of Conditionality.230
