Situationgrew worse. One day the first fellow somehowconvinced the lady <strong>and</strong> together they went to afar <strong>of</strong>f place. In the meantime, the parents <strong>of</strong> thedeceased lodged a missing report in the nearbypolice station. The next day they came to knowabout the recovery <strong>of</strong> the dead body <strong>of</strong> theirdaughter. The first lover had arranged a plot tokill her to take revenge. He added a high dose <strong>of</strong>sedative / tranquilizer <strong>and</strong> fed her in food. Soonthe lady died. The first fellow was assisted bytwo <strong>of</strong> his friends in the whole operation. Alongwith the lady the boy also took some sedatives<strong>and</strong> tried to commit suicide. But he narrowlyescaped probably due to low dose compared tohis body weight. He was admitted to hospital <strong>and</strong>after recovery he was taken to police custodyalong with his allies.The case was referred to this forensic laboratoryalong with samples seized from scene <strong>of</strong> crime <strong>and</strong>other biological samples, collected from thedeceased <strong>and</strong> accused.SamplesThe local police station took up the case soon afterthey came to know about the incidence. From thescene <strong>of</strong> crime they collected the following items :S. K. Chakrabarti*, A. Debnath & A.
