4.3.8 Credit po<strong>in</strong>t systemsOur survey asked respondents to <strong>in</strong>dicate which credit po<strong>in</strong>t system is be<strong>in</strong>g used <strong>in</strong> theBachelor <strong>and</strong> <strong>Master</strong> degree programmes. The majority of respondents <strong>in</strong> the three ma<strong>in</strong>sectors <strong>in</strong>dicated that ECTS (the European Credit Transfer System) is be<strong>in</strong>g used <strong>in</strong> all programmes:34 respondents (or 61%) <strong>in</strong> the FH sector, 31 respondents (or 55%) <strong>in</strong> the universitysector, <strong>and</strong> 10 (or 63%) among the TUs, <strong>in</strong>dicated that ECTS is be<strong>in</strong>g used 53 . A fewrespondents (9 or 16% <strong>in</strong> the FH sector, 4 or 6% <strong>in</strong> the university sector, <strong>and</strong> none amongthe TUs) <strong>in</strong>dicated that no credit po<strong>in</strong>t system is be<strong>in</strong>g used. Even fewer respondents 54 <strong>in</strong>dicatedthat another credit system is be<strong>in</strong>g used for all programmes. A m<strong>in</strong>ority of respondents<strong>in</strong>dicated that there are differences between subject areas, or that mostly ECTS is be<strong>in</strong>gused except for a few programmes: 8 (or 14%) of respondents <strong>in</strong> the FH sector, 14 (or25%) <strong>in</strong> the university sector, <strong>and</strong> 5 (or 31%) <strong>in</strong> the TU sector gave one of these responses.In the private sector, one respondent <strong>in</strong>dicated that ECTS is be<strong>in</strong>g used <strong>in</strong> all Bachelor <strong>and</strong><strong>Master</strong> programmes, while the other respondent <strong>in</strong>dicated that another system was be<strong>in</strong>gused for all programmes.4.3.9 “Vordiplom”The survey also asked if <strong>in</strong>stitutions have so far cont<strong>in</strong>ued award<strong>in</strong>g the Vordiplom (<strong>in</strong>termediateexam<strong>in</strong>ation) on the way to the Bachelor degree. As can be seen from the table below, there are significant differencesbetween sectors concern<strong>in</strong>g this question. Also with<strong>in</strong> sectors, attitudes vary widely.There is no clear majority <strong>in</strong> favour or aga<strong>in</strong>st labour market entry. For the university sector<strong>and</strong> the group of TUs, the majority of respondents report huge differences between subjectareas. In the FH sector, most respondents are neutral. Among the universities <strong>and</strong> TUs, asignificant m<strong>in</strong>ority of 13 <strong>and</strong> 25%, respectively, is opposed to a labour market entry.53 3 (or 5%) <strong>in</strong> the FH sector, 6 (or 11%) <strong>in</strong> the university sector, <strong>and</strong> 1 (or 6%) <strong>in</strong> the TU sector did not answerthe question.54 2 (or 4%) <strong>in</strong> the FH sector, 1 (or 2%) <strong>in</strong> the university sector, <strong>and</strong> none <strong>in</strong> the TU sector41
