We will spend days hiking and kayaking and withhave the opportunity for some spear fishing, a choice of either swimmingwith dolphins or whale watching and being exposed to 400-year-old Rimutrees and as well as a variety of animals. We will enjoy camping and eatingtraditional Kiwi BBQ under the stars. We will visit a conservation project inwhich over 8,000 trees have been planted by students visiting from aroundthe world. We will soak in the hot springs of Hanmer before an “epic” mealfor our last night.Post-InterimExperience:Parent’s night/ OnlineReflectionsCourse Difficulty:Moderately RigorousAdventureObjectives• Students will learn about the flora, fauna and geology of the northernpart of the South Island of New Zealand.• They will become self-sufficient, cooking their own meals over campfires.• They will be exposed to rugged outdoor activities like hiking andkayaking.• They will learn about efforts at preserving the wildlife and will contributeto a conservation project by planting a tree.RequirementsDuring the course, students will be given an Eco-Adventure workbookwhich they will be required to fill in with various flora and fauna that theyencounter.
