SELECTION AND SIGN-UP PROCESSStudents are asked to carefully consider their choice of an Interim Semester course and to ensure parents ofapprove of these choices. Students and parents must understand that once made, Interim Semester courseselections can not be changed. Interim Semester registration takes place on the following dates:October 18: 12th graders, October 21: 11th graders, October 22: 10th grades October 23: 9th graders (online)Interim provides students an opportunity to learn something new while expanding their circle of friends.Students are encouraged to select courses that interest them rather than those that have been selected byfriends they already know. Students can be assured that if they do not know any students before the coursebegins, they will definitely have developed new friendships by the time the course ends.Courses are selected on a rotating seniority basis beginning with seniors and ending with freshmen. Withina grade level, groups of students with last names beginning with certain letters are grouped together witheach student drawing a number and selecting based upon their number. Within a grade level, the letters ofstudents’ last names rotate so if a group of students in one grade selected first this year, next year they willselect last.REFUND POLICYBecause interim semester courses are planned over a year ahead of time and require flight andaccommodation deposits, refunds are generally not allowed. Furthermore, student fees for interim semestercourses are calculated under an assumption of 20 students and two faculty members. Withdrawals afterregistration place difficult financial strains on each course. If your child will not be able to participate ininterim semester, please fill out Form B, the withdrawal form. If you are withdrawing from SAS you must alsonotify the Admissions Office in writing.Two exceptions will be considered for an Interim Semester refund:• Unexpected move from Singapore – if the family is relocating from Singapore and thus withdrawing fromSAS, refunds will be provided according to the schedule below. Notice using Form C must be providedprior to interim semester registration.• Recent medical issue – if a recently discovered medical condition or a recent injury limits participation inthe selected interim semester course, the family may select a more appropriate alternative course from theremaining available courses. Families are entitled to a refund from the course they have withdrawn fromaccording to the schedule below. Participants may also receive a refund for the flight portion of the course ifthe airline approves the request.
