Chinese Language ImmersionGS04Taipei,TaiwanGLOBAL STUDIESDescriptionDuring 7 days 6 nights we have the following activities:The first 3 days, we will stay in Taipei. Students will attend the Chineseclasses in the Language Center of National Taiwan Normal University,learning Chinese. They will be in the classes by levels and taught by theUniversity language teachers in the morning.SponsorYolante PanHilda HuangPriceS$2,800Course Length7 daysIn the afternoon, there will be Cultural activities designed for students,such as Kung Fu, Chinese yoyo and making pineapple cake, all with theinstructions in Chinese.In the evening, it’s time to explore Taipei city, to see the famous night marketand xi-men-ding. Students will have the chance to practice their languageskills.During the second part of the trip, students will travel to the Tai-Chongmountains to enjoy the beauty of the scenery, taste the local cuisine,understand the culture and way of living and practice the language.Post-Interim Experience:Parent’s night / OnlineReflectionsObjectives• Improve the students’ language ability in Chinese by immersing them ina local, Chinese-speaking environment and by interacting with Chinesein real life situations.• Familiarize the students with the geography, history, people and cuisineof Taiwan and understand how the culture has shaped its language andlifestyle.• Visit the major sights of Taipei, as well as cities in the north and east ofTaiwan to learn and appreciate the way of life and the value systemsthere.RequirementsDuring-Course requirements, students must:• Speak Chinese as much as possible during the entire course.• Show respect for the culture, the people and local school staff.Pre-Course requirements:• Students must be enrolled in current / previous SAS High SchoolChinese courses.
