This will include a visit to themagnificent Doi Suthep temple and the stunning Wat Tham Pha Plong andlocal handicraft markets.They will learn about rural living conditions and will have a wonderfulcooking experience in a local Thai home.They will visit a local school, contribute through donations and interact withthe school children.Post-Interim Experience:Parent’s nightObjectives• Students will learn about human trafficking in northern Thailand.• Students will feed and bathe elephants at an amazing elephantsanctuary. They will also trek through the jungle on elephants’ backs atanother elephant camp.• Students will experience the rich culture of northern Thailand through artactivities, visits to markets and two beautiful temples.• Students will visit a rural school with very little funding for its studentsand spend time interacting and playing with the children.RequirementsPre-Course requirements:• Students will choose a topic of research on Thailand focusing on ourglobal issues.• Students will bring a toy and materials for the local school.Post-Course requirements:• Students will post photos of their trip on the Internet and contribute to agroup CD.• Reflections for parents’ night.SINGAPORE AMERICAN SCHOOL interim semester HANDBOOK 59
