19The Original WoodettesDeborah licked her lips and walked to the farend of the chalk-line and looked down thegymnasium. Along the beam the four women werefolded over into what was known as the fullhangover. On one side their legs were supported onthe balls of their feet, reaching up to the curve oftheir gossamer covered buttocks. On the far sidestheir faces were hidden between their outstretchedarms and their hair cascaded down towards thewooden floor.Debs decided she would start with Christy; shetapped the tip of the cane on the floor and set offrunning. She approached her target and lowered herright shoulder as she brought the cane through aperfect horizontal plane. Her last minute flick of thewrist gave the cane enough momentum to arrive atits target traveling at Mach One. It was a perfectstrike. She turned around and walked back up thegymnasium.
