The main aim of the contract with WSC was the development of an improved modelthat would inform offshore monitoring effort. This model was to be used to develop thespecification for an offshore monitoring contract. The failure of the contract to deliver this hasmeant that SL is now looking to award a monitoring contract without the benefit of a validatedmodel. The specification for this contract will therefore need to be different to that previouslyplanned.Although the contract with WSC did not deliver the full work scope, the progress made priorto the collapse of the contract has provided useful information on which to develop amonitoring specification. Discussions with the DSRL contractor (Land & Marine) have alsoproved very useful in understanding what information the monitoring contractor may need togather before committing to a monitoring programme.
