Additionally, you should have created the Template Parts library from the “Creat<strong>in</strong>gTemplate Parts” section earlier <strong>in</strong> this chapter and built the sample template part for enter<strong>in</strong>gcustomer <strong>in</strong>formation. This exercise will make use of this template part to create a form forcustomer issues.Creat<strong>in</strong>g a Customer Issues SiteFor this exercise, you will create a new site for track<strong>in</strong>g customer issues. This site will have aform library that will conta<strong>in</strong> the form for track<strong>in</strong>g issues. Therefore, you’ll need to create thissite before build<strong>in</strong>g the form.Follow these steps to create the new site:1. Log <strong>in</strong> to VSMOSS as a <strong>SharePo<strong>in</strong>t</strong> adm<strong>in</strong>istrator.2. Open the home page of the <strong>in</strong>tranet site you created <strong>in</strong> Chapter 2 (e.g., http://vsmoss/sites/<strong>in</strong>tranet/Pages/Default.aspx).3. Click the Sites tab to open the Site Directory.4. In the Site Directory, click the Create Site l<strong>in</strong>k.5. On the New <strong>SharePo<strong>in</strong>t</strong> Site page, enter Customer Issues <strong>in</strong> the Title field.6. Enter CustomerIssues <strong>in</strong> the URL Name field.7. Select Blank Site from the template list.8. Click the Create button.The form that you’ll create will conta<strong>in</strong> a list that will allow you to categorize the customerissue. This list will be ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong> the <strong>SharePo<strong>in</strong>t</strong> site so that it can be edited when necessary.You will subsequently utilize the list <strong>in</strong> your form by us<strong>in</strong>g a data connection.Follow these steps to create the new list:1. In the Customer Issues site, click the Lists l<strong>in</strong>k <strong>in</strong> the Quick Launch area.2. On the All Site Content page, click the Create l<strong>in</strong>k.3. On the Create page, click Custom List.4. On the New page, enter Issue Categories <strong>in</strong> the Name field.5. Click the Create button.6. On the Issue Categories page, click the New button.7. On the New Item page, enter Product Defect <strong>in</strong> the Title field and click the OK button.8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 to add the follow<strong>in</strong>g categories to the list: Miss<strong>in</strong>g Parts, WrongItem, and Damaged Item.
