Two neighbors, Dr.William Vonroth Jr. ’67 and MarkDiMaggio ’86, usually make the tripwith him but were unable to attend.John literally bumped into Tom“O.J.” Odjakjian as he walked acrossthe field into Goodman Stadium.O.J. was talking with two-timeAmerican League Manager of theYear Joe Maddon. John and hiswife, Linda, have lived in Nutley, N.J.,for 30 years. They have a daughter,Amanda (Lehigh, 2007), and a son,Jeff (Lehigh, 2012).David Nicholas was appointed vicepresident of the cable group of PanasonicSolutions Company. Brad Farrell’s daughterLindsay, 28, was married to her highschool sweetheart, Adam Bovenzi, overLabor Day weekend. The couple isexpecting Brad’s first grandchild in spring.Update from C. Mackey Hughes II:“Unfortunately, I cannot attend thisreunion, since it’s also my 35th highschool reunion and I am on the reunioncommittee. I still do a lot of huntingand skiing, and winter (2011–12) willbe my 10th year as a ski patroller atWhitetail Resort in Mercersburg, Pa.”An 11-year veteran at AH&T Insurancein Leesburg, Va., he works as a producer/account executive. One son is out ofcollege and works as a medic/firefighterin Arlington County, Va. They willcelebrate their 30th wedding anniversaryin July. Daughter Sara is an anesthesiologyresident at Yale Hospital in New Haven,Conn. SonDan (Penn, 2009) is a researchassistant for Covance in Gaithersburg,Md., but lives in Washington, D.C.Connie and Joao are thrilledDoylestown is the midpoint betweenD.C. and New Haven.Connie notes her evangelism forLafayette: “I am fortunate to be able toencourage many of my patients towardLafayette as they make their collegesearch. I follow these young folks fromthe time they are 1 or 2 years old untilthey head off to college, and I’m proudto say that my patient ‘family’ includes anumber of Lafayette Leopards!” Outsideof work, she sings in several choirs(“Meistersingers is still a great memory”),with the Doylestown Comfort Choir afavorite. “We provide soothing bedsidesinging for people in hospice. It’s awonderful group of women to sing with!”Four and a half years ago, MichaelSilver packed up his family, sold thehouse, and left their home of 15 yearsin Monsey, N.Y., for Israel. He says it iswonderful, with great challenges andrewards. He works both as president of astart-up pharmaceutical company and asvice president of a start-up that developsdevices for radiation therapy. His wifeheads physical therapy for a nonprofitorganization that cares for children bornwith disabilities. The Silvers’ adultchildren are finding their own path inthe Holy Land. One daughter recentlymarried and gave birth to a boy this pastFourth of July, which Michael notes isapropos since his son-in-law is British.He adds, “Unfortunately, it is unlikelythat I will be able to attend our 35threunion—unless the organizers decideto move the venue to Jerusalem! He writes:“I cannot believe that come March 2012,I will have been here 20 years. I will retireby early July and live permanently in thePhilippines, where I will open a veryelegant two-room hotel in Pagsanjan,Laguna. If people want a view of thehotel, go to Facebook and search forSerenity Hotel, or friend me.” Henrynotes he rarely visits the States anymore,instead spending time with friends inthe Philippines, where he is a basketballreferee in one of the larger Filipinoleagues.
