Determine the best design for the extended/ redeveloped centre considering:6Executive Summary & Recommended Actions–– the outcome of the vegetation assessment–– fit for purpose requirements/ user comfort–– ability to maintain pedestrian circulation through to the school and existing courts–– cost of construction–– energy efficiency–– ability to protect existing vegetation on the site–– ability to fit with surroundings and promote its use for social gathering and community sport14. Seek planning approval for the extension/redevelopment ofthe building, to add one full sized netball court15. Refine the schedule of use (provided in Appendix 4.) in conjunctionwith proposed users and ascertain the nature of charges16. Determine the most cost effective nature of flooring that is fit for purpose for all sports identified,is cost effective to maintain, and acceptable to the clubs on site, the school and Council.17. Seek funding for the construction of the new facilities18. Consider booking and programming the centre by Council or contractor to Council in conjunctionwith other indoor courts such as <strong>Surf</strong>world, Torquay Primary and future indoor courts at Torquay Nth19. Revise the schedule of activities, regular user groups, permits, pricing andbooking policy, management arrangements and any regulations.20. Revise estimates for income and revenue (See Appendix 4.) and budget accordingly21. Prepare information about the centre and its facilities for marketingpurposes and promote through Council’s information channelsGym and group fitness facilities22. Consider programming additional fitness activities in <strong>Aireys</strong> <strong>Inlet</strong> Community Centre, whilstplanning for provision of a community gym to include weights and cardio equipment23. Work with the Fairhaven <strong>Surf</strong> Lifesaving Club to develop a community gym with weights andcardio equipment, that can be use by residents through a membership arrangement24. Assist the club to market the gym and prepare a management plan for itsoperation that ensures residents may use the facility as a community gymOff-road trail developments25. Continue to develop the network of off-road trails across the district, and to makethese accessible to people using wheelchairs (as per Council’s existing plans)
