These are outlined below.Minimum functional requirements/site potential for recreation reserve–– On a relatively flat site largeenough to provide the basicstandard playing field and supportfacilities (one cricket groundand one extra soccer pitch, plusbasic amenities, and car park)–– On a site that does not have greaterpotential for another recreationaluse, or on which other importantleisure uses are dependant–– A site with suitable road access – tolimit congestion on local roads–– Where there is the opportunityto provide social/ familyrecreation i.e. playground,hard court/ BBQ etc as well–– Preferably not far awayfrom a water source–– Where there is access to powerand other services withina reasonable distanceLocation–– In close proximity to theschool and town centre–– In close proximity to existingsporting/ recreation orcommunity infrastructure i.e.tennis courts, CommunityCentre/ indoor sports hall–– To centrally serve the districtand the catchment for a clubOutlook–– Opportunity to be overlookedby houses/ relatively close tohouses/ in a central location–– A relatively prominent andlogical site to find, so it canencourage casual social useespecially by visitors: kick afooty; throw balls to a dog etc.–– Far enough away from houses soas not to restrict use of lightsConnectivity–– Can be served by shared trail-wherechildren can get to independently–– Central location; can be served byany public transport, or convenientto include in a family journey i.e.to shops or community facilitiesSite development options–– Several locations were considered toaccommodate a recreation reservewith a multi-use playing field in<strong>Aireys</strong> <strong>Inlet</strong>.
