The <strong>Strategy</strong>NO. OBJECTIVE STRATEGY ACTIONS1. To develop arecreation reservein <strong>Aireys</strong> <strong>Inlet</strong> toserve a social/family recreationfunction, and providefor local culturaland environmentalactivities, localcricket, juniorfootball and soccercompetition andtraining, as wellas school use.–– Acquire a parcel ofland off Bambra Road<strong>Aireys</strong> <strong>Inlet</strong>, to developas a recreation andwetland reserve–– Develop a recreationreserve (similar toBellbrae Reserve) toinclude a local levelplaying surface aswell as social/ familyrecreation facilities.–– Negotiate with the land owner to purchase, or lease (long term) a parcelof land on Bambra Road, <strong>Aireys</strong> <strong>Inlet</strong> for a recreation and wetlands reserve–– Seek funds from a range of sources to develop the site and construct thefacility in stages–– Develop Location C as the preferred site which:offers a broad range of recreational, sport and environmental benefits minimisesenvironmental impact of any worksis large enough to provide sports facilities (cricket, junior football and socceras per Chapter 4.) and landscape, wetland and environmental componentsis less affected by floodingPart 1 <strong>Strategy</strong> 13retains a corridor along the Creekretains a landscape buffer along Bambra Roadis most easily acquiredcan facilitate easy water harvesting and recycling–– Undertake a master planning and design process for the reserve inconjunction with the community and stakeholders. This will include:a design for the wetlands, any catchment or estuarine management and waterharvesting and recycling elementssports facilities (cricket, junior football and soccer )basic support facilitiessocial/ family recreation facilitieslandscape elements and revegetationoff-road trail and perimeter pathDetermine whether a small toilet/ change/ storage facility is feasible andenvironmentally sustainable in the first stageSeek planning approval for the development of the recreation andwetland reserve and a small toilet/ change facility as requiredDevelop the recreation and wetlands reserve in stages–– Prepare a concisemanagement planfor the reserve–– Assist the development of any sports club and reserve “friends of” or usergroup to base themselves at the reserve–– Determine desirable uses, likely schedule of activities,seasonal user groups, permits, pricing and booking policy,management arrangements and any regulations.–– Prepare information about the reserve and its facilities for marketingpurposes and promote through Council’s information channels133096
