C. ChurchPage 3Mission NewsTraveling to Guatemala on the St Raymond'sMission Awareness Trip is an experience thatis impossible to fully explain. Yes I can sharestories, show pictures, give gifts but theexperience is unique in many ways.My first trip with Deacon Rich to Guatemalawas 9 years ago. I was in High School and Itruly believe that my first 3 trips helped me become an adultand the person I am today. It is so frustrating to never beable to explain the love and caring of the Guatemalanpeople to my family and to have them be unable tounderstand this aspect of my life. Two years ago my motherand brother made the journey with me. Ever since then I feellike my family has grown stronger and they share that part ofmy life. This year I was joined by my two cousins, Jeanetteand Colleen. To be able to share my Guatemalan family(and I do consider them my family) with my cousins wasamazing. I feel like they now know me so much morebecause they know what I know about love, giving, sharingand coming together to make the world a better place. Some people, even in my own family, question why I go toGuatemala to help the people there. It pains me to think thatthey might never know why. I help them because they arepeople and no matter what culture or country they comefrom, they deserve an education, clean clothes, food, medicine and most of all to be loved. I go there to help thembut I leave feeling like I am the one who has been given agift, because I have learned so much from them. You might never make the journey to Guatemala but theexperience of sponsoring a child is an unexplainable joy aswell. My family has sponsored 6 children and eachrelationship has taught me so much about life, love andmyself. I have seen my first sponsored child graduate fromHigh School, get a job and become a man. I promise that ifyou get involved in the Project you will change lives; theGuatemalan children and your own. -- Dan RivenburghThere are children waiting to be sponsored at $20 permonth. If interested please call the rectory.

Unless you haveseen them, you cannot imagine howaccomplished are these young actors andactresses, who are students here at St.Raymond's and neighboring High Schools. These productions are truly a result of family andcommunity. Alumni of St. Raymond’s school and nowparents of students in the play constructed the sets. Ourvery own Art Club members, most of them seniors, paintedthose sets. There are the parents and friends who take careof costumes, props and other incidentals. There are thesponsors who place ads for the program and this year somevery generous sponsors who donated the funds to hire aprofessional orchestra. There are the Director and Producerwho take as much interest in these plays as if they were toopen on Broadway, and last but most importantly, there arethe very special kids who put their hearts into every nuanceof these awesome productions. All of these time, talent andenergy consuming tasks that culminate in such fantasticproductions are done voluntarily as an expression of love, friendship and family for our parish community.Don't miss your opportunity to enjoy this latest, terrificparish family event and to show your appreciation andsupport. You can still purchase your ticket at the doorbefore the performance. You will be so glad you did!PANTRY NEEDS: Coffee, Baked Beans, Corn,Packaged Potatoes, Stuffing, Mac & Cheese,Juice, Laundry and Dish Detergent, ShavingCream, Deodorant, Shampoo & Conditioner andDiapers Sizes 4 & 6.St. Raymond Human Life Committee“How long, O Lord? I cry for help but You donot listen!” (Habakkuk 1:2) This could be thevoice of the child in her mother’s womb or thegroan of the old man as he is given the extrashot of morphine to end his “inconvenient”life. It could be the fearful gasp of theexecuted prisoner, or the neglected andabused child put out on the street by his ownparent. It is the voice of the voiceless and thecry of the desperate. But we know the Lord hears the cry ofthe poor and comes to their aid. We are called to be theinstruments of God’s work—His hands of outreach; His helpto all in need. The Prophets, the Apostles, and the martyrswere men and women just like us. Through the grace of Godand their openness to His Will, they changed the world. Arewe willing to experience inconvenience, or even to sufferhardship, so that a baby might live?In this third week of “Respect Life Month,” let us pray thatlike the Good Samaritan, we might seek ways to serve theweakest and most forgotten, and preserve the life of thosethreatened by the violence of abortion, abuse, selfishness orneglect.Saint Raymond R. The audience saw a professionalproduction of WEST SIDE STORY. What was not seen waswhat goes on backstage. Before each performance, the castand crew pray together. Our Lord is included in what we do.Here is the opening prayer given by one of our cast, KaitlynO'Connor, the night of our final dress rehearsaL...I remember the first time I walked through those auditoriumdoors, I knew no one, other than the girl standing next to me.At that time I didn't know that the people I was about to meetwould end up being a family to me. I look forward torehearsals and knowing that tomorrow is the show and I onlywish that we had more time together. I look at everyone ofyou as my friend and family member and one of the reasonsI love coming here is because I don't have to worry aboutbeing judged or trying to impress someone. Everyone is soaccepting of each other, which I find incredible because ofhow many people are a part of this. The memories I'veshared with everyone are unforgettable and I love everyoneof you. Each person in this room is incredibly talented, butwhen you put us all together you get something that is trulymagical. We've gotten everything we could have: amazingdirection, choreography, music, costumes, sets and now it'sup to us. I love performing but performing with all of you issomething that I cherish and I know that I will never forgetthe friendships I have had with you. So I want to say toeveryone "Break-a leg" tonight, tomorrow and every otherperformance we have together. God has blessed us havingeach other so now lets thank Him by saying, Our Father …”Principal’s CornerThe weather wasn’t too cooperative for ourparade, but that didn’t dampen the spirits ofour students and staff last week for NationalHat Day. We happily sent the check offto the Heavenly Hats Foundation once again pleased withthe generosity of our school families. This is definitely the week for all of us to “put on a happyface” as it is PICTURE DAY.
