Abraham Minier born in 1762, another son <strong>of</strong> George Minier <strong>of</strong> NorthamptonCo. Pa. came to New York State as an early settler. In 1792 he bought land atLibertyville, just north <strong>of</strong> Ithaca. Abraham was a much younger brother <strong>of</strong>Christian Minier <strong>of</strong> Big Flats and <strong>of</strong> Daniel Minier <strong>of</strong> Tioga Point and probablycame with them up the Susquehanna River from Northampton Co. in 1789. Hisgrave and those <strong>of</strong> many <strong>of</strong> his descendants are to be found in the yard <strong>of</strong> theold Asbury Church in the town <strong>of</strong> Lansing, Tompkins Co. N. Y. This placewas in the town <strong>of</strong> Genoa, Cayuga County when the church was formed.In Northampton County, Pa. Abraham served during the War <strong>of</strong> the Revolutionas a ranger on the frontier in the years 1779 to 1783. There is no doubtthat during this period he visited throughout the countryside in New York wherelater he and his brothers settled.Abrah~m Minier's first wife was Anna Maria-- (probably Anna MariaHeller) and their first children were baptized in the Hamilton township churchwhere were also baptized several <strong>of</strong> the children <strong>of</strong> Christian and <strong>of</strong> DanielMinier. The record <strong>of</strong> Johannes his son agrees with that <strong>of</strong> in his son JohnMinie r' s bible as to birthdate. Y. helps to fill outthe picture <strong>of</strong> his family. It mentions Rachel (his 2nd wife) and the children as"John, the eldest son; Silvester; Daniel D.; Barnabas; Nancy M. Ives; Eliza,the widow Shaw; heirs <strong>of</strong> his daughter Mary, deceased wife <strong>of</strong> Joseph Knittles;Sarah Ann Clark, daughter by his wife Rachel"Abraham Minier son <strong>of</strong> George was born May 1762 and died 22 March 1843aged 80 years 10 months. The stone <strong>of</strong> Anna Maria his first wife reads "Marywife <strong>of</strong> Abraham Minier died Feb. 12, 1815 aged 56 years 6 months 12 days."the 2nd wife Rachel --- died 4 Nov. 1857 aged 73 years.
