He married Rebecca German dau. <strong>of</strong> DeaconHenry German. Abraham's and Rebecca's stones are in the Hector PresbyterianCh.yard. Abraham d. 28 July 1866 ae 67 yrs.and Rebecca 20 Feb. 1874 aged 73.Their children as far as known:Clarinda <strong>Everts</strong> d. 12 Oct. 1852 aged 27 yrs. (born about 1825)Amanda <strong>Everts</strong> was aged 24 in 1850 " " 1826Ermina <strong>Everts</strong> d. 9 Jan. 1872 aged 44 yrs. " " 1828Hellen <strong>Everts</strong> 1829-1914 was a successful farmer 1829Aranthes <strong>Everts</strong> d. 31 Dec. 1855 aged 24-2-7 1831Cynthia <strong>Everts</strong> 1835-1908 buried Burdette Union Gem. married Abner Chase;ch: Lauren D. ; Geo. S. ; Anna E. ; perhaps others.The known ancestors <strong>of</strong> Daniel <strong>Everts</strong> (b. 1749) bear English names. John<strong>Everts</strong> the emigrant mar. (1) Elizabeth -- (2) Elizabeth, widow Parmalee; JohnJr's first wife Mary French dau. <strong>of</strong> Thomas died 1788 & he mar. (2) Mary dau.<strong>of</strong> Alex. Bow <strong>of</strong> Middletown, Conn. Nathaniel <strong>of</strong> the 3rd generation married intothe Hastings family as earlier related. John <strong>Everts</strong> his son & the father <strong>of</strong>Daniel married Submit Stone dau. <strong>of</strong> Stephen <strong>of</strong> Guilford, Conn.Following are short accounts <strong>of</strong> some <strong>of</strong> the ancestral lines <strong>of</strong> Daniel<strong>Everts</strong> and his wife Molly Hurd.HurdThe Hurd ancestry in America begins with Adam Hurd born 1611 in Somersetshire,England. He came to this country before 1644 and died in Stratford,Ct. His wife was Hannah (Bertrand?) and their son John married Ann widow <strong>of</strong>Joshua Judson. Ebenezer Hurd, one <strong>of</strong> their several children married Sarah P.Lane (dau. <strong>of</strong> Robert Lane) whose mother Sarah Pickett was the daughter <strong>of</strong>John Pickett <strong>of</strong> Salem, Mass. Both John Pickett, who died in 1683, and RobertLane (1639-1718) were in public life; John Pickett being Deputy to the ColonialAssembly and Robert Lane a member <strong>of</strong> that body and also Deputy <strong>of</strong> the Conn.Court <strong>of</strong> Elections.Ebenezer Hurd born in Woodbury, Conn, was the first Hurd to move toKillingworth. Ebenezer's son Daniel Hurd married there Rachel Smith and theirstones yet stand in the old Killingworth Cemetery at Clinton. The inscriptionsread this way:"In Memory <strong>of</strong> Mr. Daniel Hurd who died Janry 1st AD 1766 in his 70th yearHere Lyes the Body <strong>of</strong> Mrs. Rachel Hurd who died the wife <strong>of</strong> Mr. DanielHurd Apr. the 24, 1750 Aged 47 years"Inaccurate copies <strong>of</strong> these stones are on record in the Charles Hale MSs in theConn. State Library at Hartford. The above copy was made by the compiler in1952 with care for accuracy; also pictures were taken <strong>of</strong> the gravestones atthat time.Daniel and Rachel Smith Hurd had a son Abraham Hurd born on 28 Feb. 1724who died 29 April 1810, the father <strong>of</strong> Molly Hurd Redfield <strong>Everts</strong>. Abrahammarried in 1753 Mary Stevens Wilcox also buried at Killingworth. She died"15 June 1805 aged 71 years". Molly's brother Abraham Hurd Jr. who hadserved actively in the Rev. War died about the time Molly in 1799 named heryoungest son Abraham Hurd <strong>Everts</strong>.Living in Killingworth, Conn, during the Rev. War. there is no doubt thatAbraham Hurd Sr. was a patriot. However lists showing signers for Killingworth<strong>of</strong> the Oath <strong>of</strong> Fidelity <strong>of</strong> 1777 (prescribed by the General Assembly inMay <strong>of</strong> that year) have not been found .46
