The Genux® offers a new, yet completely different approachto solving this challenge. To understand the problem of migration, one hasto understand that knee braces are suspended to the human skin. Thebrace is designed to follow the movements of the femur and tibia. Theskin around the knee has a different dynamic than the skin at the femurand tibia. Now that we understand the phenomenon of skin migration,it becomes clear that traditional knee brace designs of adhering a kneebrace to the skin by means of straps and rubbery interfaces is contributingto the problem, rather than solving it. To combat the problem of skinmigration, the Genux® uses roller interfaces on the proximal portion of thebrace that allow the skin to migrate freely underneath the brace.
