Hip & KneeHow the DynaCox ® worksFeatures and Benefits• The circular compression supports the gluteus muscles(abductors) which cover the hip joint like a fan andstabilise it.• Allows the components of the orthosis to be positionedclose to the body for optimal functionality with minimalbulk for the wearerThree-point principleThe orthosis:• A splint that can be positioned perfectly for optimalpressure transferwith the three-point principle.• The components of the orthosis – the medial condylarfixture (1), the sub-trochanteric pad (2) and the countersupportof the hip clasp (3) – ensure dynamic stabilisationof the femoral head in its socketWhy use a Dynamic Hip Orthosis?Bandage and orthosis together represent the perfectsystem for orthotic hip support:• Stabilisation of the osseous structures to preventdislocation.• Supports muscle build-up throughout the entire treatmentperiod.Safety InformationDynaCox must be checked regularly by a physician, orexperienced orthopaedic technician, for possible damage and toensure it fits correctly. The normal time of wearing DynaCox during the rehabilitationtherapy is 12 weeks. In the case of a longer application theintervals between these check-ups are to be determined by thephysician for each individual patient.123456Features and BenefitsThe treatment concept is a functional combination of bandage and orthosis. The bandageprovides compression and helps reduce excessive flexion of the hip. The orthosis helpsmaintain containment by clever use of the counter-forces generated by its pretension design. The combination of well thought out biomechanics and component design significantlyreduces risk of dislocation, whilst allowing normal muscle action to promote rehabilitation. This close fitting orthosis allows more normal movement and improved cosmesis, whilsthelping return confidence to those unfortunate enough to have had a dislocation.Indications for UseHip dislocation following arthroplasty which may be due to:• Muscle imbalance• Muscle weakness• Soft tissue laxityThere have been reports of pain relief in non operable severe hip arthritis.Contra-indicationsInappropriate boney alignment due to position of prosthesis or acetabulum.Function• Safeguarding surgical results• Dislocation prophylaxis• Early functional motion therapyMaintenanceThe DynaCox® should be checked every 3 months by a specialist for possible damage and to ensure that it fits properly. Usersshould check the security of the screw connections on a weekly basis. If they have any concerns they should contact theirprescribing centre for advice. The thigh belt can be removed from the bandage for washing by undoing the zip. A separate thighbelt can be ordered and worn on the thigh so as not to interrupt the treatment. If the DynaCox® is to be worn for a very long period of time, we recommend that the patient orders a spare bandage set. This canbe changed by a specialist for washing. Wash the bandage with a mild detergent at a hand-wash setting of 30°C. Allow to air dry.Do not iron. Do not dry in a tumble-drier. Do not place on hot objects (eg. radiators).Only store or wear when dry. Wipe the orthosiscomponent with a damp cloth.MADE-TO-MEASURE FORM AVAILABLE FROM CUSTOMER SERVICES789101112131415Fax: 0113 2725689 | Web: www.rslsteeper.com 119
