Overthe years, other braces have emerged which exhibit similar shapes and purposes and theterm “Boston Brace” has often been applied to them. However, none of these braces havemanaged to repeat the success of the original Boston Brace and none can be compared interms of the volume of medical based evidence available to support its effectiveness.The original Boston Brace system for the non-operative treatment of idiopathic scoliosis,utilises a prefabricated, standardised symmetrical module chosen on the basis of the patientsphysicaldimensions. The brace is manufactured from polypropylene and lined with foam.
