A tool that canbe used to support the learning objectives that have been set for your course and assiststudents gain the skills and knowledge they require to successfully complete theassessment tasks.As with any tool, there are times when using the internet may not be the mostappropriate means of supporting learners. Online learning may not be appropriate forcircumstances such as practicing laboratory or motor skills, laboratory experiments andmanual handling techniques. There are also a number of myths around the internet thatare important to be aware of. For example the internet is:o Not necessarily cheaper than face-to-face teaching.o Not less work intensive than face-to-face teaching (it can be more).o Not practical or effective for all situations.o Not effective educationally as an information delivery mechanism only.As a tutor you may be required to undertake duties that are associated with onlineteaching and learning.
