Make sure you clarify with the course coordinator/lecturerwhat they expect of you, and if possible, find out whether you should be given a dutystatement or contract.Common duties for a sessional teacher or tutor include:♦♦♦Leading tutorial sessionsConducting laboratory sessionsMarking assignments and exams, or other student activities (e.g., lab reports,quizzes, journals, in-class activities).Meeting your course coordinator before thesemester begins, and then regularly throughoutthe course helps to establish and maintain goodcommunication channels between yourself andyour supervisor, enabling you to keep abreast ofcurrent tasks and issues in the course.Also, get to know other tutors, either thoseworking on the same course/s as you or othertutors in your department. Giving and gettingsupport from your peers can be the most beneficialway to survive and thrive as a new teacher!
