through to give her a call. She’s proud
to say that her 3 children are all well
launched on great lives, although
sadly, all living in different times
zones from hers! Karin lives in Baton
Rouge with husband Neale and 2
grandsons, Rainier and Emmett.
Karin is almost finished with her
PhD at LSU in Curriculum Theory.
Kiley received her PhD from Yale in
May and is now Assistant Professor
of Psychology at the University of
British Columbia in Vancouver. Adam
is a lieutenant in the Air Force, working
as part of the missile program in
Great Falls, MT. He graduated from
Purdue with a degree in Aerospace
Engineering. She was sorry to miss
Reunion, but it fell on the same
weekend as Kiley’s Yale graduation.
She frequently sees Fran Burns and
occasionally visits with Terry Dolan
and Patty Sheridan. ¶ Margot Cleary
has been living in Austin, MN, since
Dec. 1982 and continues to work at
the Hormel Institute, part of the U
of Minnesota. She continues to do
research on the effects of body weight
and food intake on the development of
breast cancer. Her husband, Howard
Brockman, also works at the U of
Minnesota. In anticipation of soon
retiring, they recently purchased a
36-foot RV complete with dishwasher,
washer/dryer, and central vacuum! So
far they have taken some luxury RV
weekend adventures. Son Stephen,
age 19, recently finished his 1st year
at Luther College in Decorah, IA,
and Kevin, age 17, will be a senior in
high school. Howard’s daughter Meg
is an MD in the navy with a 1½-year
old son. In considering what to do
during retirement, Margot is taking a
chocolate-making course at Burdick’s
Chocolates in NH. She keeps in
regular contact with Barbara Lipcan
Bagley and last year visited with
Margie Hogan Langelier and husband
Ray while giving a talk at the cancer
center in Albany, NY. Margot returns
to MA several times a year to visit
her mother and 2 sisters. ¶ Michele
McFaull’s big news was about her son
Bill McElnea’s recent marriage to
Fallon Shields of Duxbury, MA. They
now live in DC, where they both work
in public policy. After the wedding,
Michele visited friends in CT before
returning to her home in Salt Spring
Island, BC. She loves the good life in
the beautiful Vancouver, BC, area—
speaking of the sweet air, clear blue
water, and “National Geographic”
experience. ¶ Christine McGill lives
in Newburyport, MA (practically my
neighbor). She recently emailed me
about her travels to Jamaica the
week before the troubles erupted,
speaking of the beauty of the country
and warmth of the people. She
did manage to drive through the
affected neighborhoods and said the
conditions reminded her of scenes
from Slum Dog Millionaire. Chris
was happy to say that her daughter,
Makala, who is a pharmacist for
Walgreens, just transferred from
Portland, OR, to Portland, ME. ¶ Last
Jan., Suzanne Gautreau moved into a
newly built home at The Pinehills in
Plymouth, MA, where she wants to
live when she’s retired. She loves the
active community there. Suzanne still
works full time as Administrative
Manager of the Vascular Surgery
Division at Mass. General Hospital.
She commutes by train each day from
Kingston, feels the long commute
is worth it as the area is so beautiful.
She keeps in contact with Nancy
Cotter, who retired about 4 years
ago from teaching 8th-grade math in
Walpole. Nancy now divides her time
between Cape Cod and
South Easton. ¶ Patty
Hanifey and I had lunch
with Nancy McCallum
Brenerman and Kathy
Dobbyn Bouchard in
Portland, ME, just after
Reunion Weekend. Their
big news is that Nancy
has a new position with
Unum Insurance, and
Kathy is finally retired
after over 35 years in
the Portland school
system. Kathy was a new
grandmother last year,
and Patty’s daughter,
Megan, just had twins
last July to keep sister
Sally, 2 years old, company. ¶ Peter
and I traveled to Italy for 12 days
last summer, starting out with 4 days
in Capri to attend a family birthday,
then on to Lake Como, Verona, then a
final few days in Milan. ¶ That’s it for
now.... I do hope to hear from some
of you out there who have been too
silent over the years!
✒ Susan (Sukey) Saunders, 157
Lexington Ave., Cranston, RI 02910
401-467-6316, smsaun@aol.com ¶ Last
June we received the sad news of the
death of our classmate Jean F. Ryan.
Though Jean left Regis during our
junior year I am sure she is remembered
by many of you. Our sympathy
is extended to her family and friends.
¶ It has been suggested many times
that we create a Facebook page
for our class, and thanks to Patty
DiNicola Douillet we now have one.
Join us at Regis College Class of 1972
to connect with old friends and post
family pictures and old photos from
our Regis days. Remember that Regis
also has Facebook pages—Regis
College and Regis College Alumni—
class notes
Pat Grosz Korzendorfer ’68
has persevered through
cancer with humor: “I’m
going to glow in the
dark pretty soon!”
where you can keep up with news and
events at the college. ¶ Patty Douillet
had a busy spring and summer
visiting with her children. Billy is a
sommelier at the highly rated Alinea
restaurant in Chicago. He planned
to run the Chicago marathon in Oct.
with Roger and Patty there to cheer
him on. Patty regularly visits Nicole,
a VP at Credit-Suisse, at her home
in Manhattan and spent much of the
summer at Nicole’s summer place
on the North Fork of Long Island.
Patty’s 60th was celebrated with a
week of fine dining with family and
friends and capped off with a very
fine wine selected by her expert son.
She and Roger were also planning
to travel to France this fall to visit
Roger’s relatives in Alsace. In June,
Patty will be retiring as the library
media specialist at Pittsfield HS.
She wanted us to know that Helen
McKenna Berube’s daughter Kathleen
was married in Oct. 2009 and is an
elementary school teacher in Queens.
Like their mothers, Kathleen and
Nicole are very close friends. Helen’s
daughter, Mary Beth, is completing
her nursing degree, and son Mark
works in finance in Boston. He is also
the father of a beautiful little girl.
Helen would be so very proud of all
