REGIS TODAY
It was amazing to run
through the tunnel
and onto the field
to finish at the
50-yard line!
her husband, Mitchell Donahue, and
daughter, Amelia Ann Donahue. She
graduated with a Master of Science
in Organizational Communication
Behavior from Regis is 2006.
Currently she works in 3 different
fields. She’s the J.S. Equipment
Depot Coordinator and Head
Clinician ME/NH Region, where they
help brain tumor cancer patients.
Laurie says she loves working for the
company and finds it very rewarding.
Laurie is also an Adjunct Professor
at Manchester Community College
in the Business Studies Department
and Great Bay Community College
in the Hospitality Department. She
teaches 5 different courses, anywhere
from 1–3 classes a semester,
and she really loves working with
the students. Finally, Laurie is an
event planner and an entrepreneur.
She owns a company that specializes
in event planning called Everyday
Details, where she has a lot of fun
helping with and planning all types of
events, from fundraisers to weddings.
Out of all of these, however, Laurie
says that being a mommy is by far
the most rewarding and favorite
job! She feels very lucky to have the
flexibility to work her hours around
Amelia and her husband’s job, so they
can avoid daycare. We are glad to
hear things are going so well, Laurie!
¶ What a momentous occasion we had
this last May. Can you believe we just
celebrated our 5th Reunion? For
those of you who weren’t able to
attend Reunion, I must inform you
that you missed one heck of a party!
A handful of us even stayed in the pit
for the entire weekend! Those who
stayed over included Michelle Class,
Sharon Lemay Ploss, Amy
Shoemaker Bucelewicz,
Emily Hall, Ellen Blaney,
Kelsey Raga, Meghan
Sullivan, Kathryn Bloomquist,
and Kathleen Stuart. For our
luau under the tent at the
Tower Garden, Meghan
Beck, Mandy Fleming, and
Cate Howley McLaughlin and
her hubby joined us on
Friday night. Cate let us
know that she left United
Way after 5 years and got a
new job at Tufts. She’s the
director of the Dental Fund
at Tufts University School
of Dental Medicine. Congrats, Cate!
It was great to catch up for a few
minutes at dinner with everyone.
After enjoying the buffet and DJ, we
made our way down to the Fine Arts
Center for a wine tasting and more
desserts. ¶ On Saturday morning we
trekked in our PJs to the cafeteria for
breakfast. At noon we took part in
our first parade of classes! Although
we were at the end of the line, we
proudly wore our American Flag
Ribbon Pins, put together by Michelle
Class, to represent September 11, that
horrific day during freshman year.
United as a class, we listened during
the All Alumni Luncheon that
followed the parade as other alumni
who received the awards shared with
us their stories of Regis. ¶ Saturday
afternoon consisted of lazy walks
around the campus, checking out the
new fields, and really soaking in the
beautiful weather we had. During our
class meeting, Michelle Class was
appointed our new President for the
next 5 years. She will serve with Amy
Shoemaker Bucelewicz as our Vice
President; Meghan Sullivan will serve
as Secretary; Emily Hall, Sharon Lemay
Ploss, and Colleen Jaeger will b our
Fund Agents; and lastly, Kathryn
Bloomquist and Kathleen Stuart will
join me as Class Reporters. Sarah
Staunton will serve as our Reunion
Chairperson in 2015. Thank you,
ladies, for stepping up to the plate!
¶ The high point of Reunion Weekend
for many of us was the lobster bake
held under the tent in the Tower
Garden on Saturday evening. The
Mark Greel Band provided live
music, and all Reunion alumni
gathered underneath the stars to eat,
drink, and dance! Meredith Creeden,
Danielle Lewon, Lauren Pullia, Bonnie
Woolfrey, Susan Walley, and Kaitlin
Damon Muzrall joined Reunion that
evening. For anyone who missed it,
check out the pictures on Facebook to
see just how much fun was had! ¶
Speaking of Facebook, it seems to be
the easiest way to stay in touch these
days. I got to catch up with Caitlin
Connolly, who’s son Colin and I share
the same birthday! He turned 1 as I
was turning 27 on Aug. 9, reminding
me of how old I do feel. I’d like to
send congrats off to Cait, who left
Daniel Webster after 4 years to come
back to our neck of the woods and
work for Lasell! Who knows, Cait,
maybe I’ll get you back on campus
yet! ¶ We missed Melissa Curry at
Reunion because she was traveling
for work, but through Facebook she
reports this: “Nothing really new
here. Bought my house 2 years ago
and just refinanced at a super rate.
I have been slowly working on
renovating my house. The next room
we are working on is the kitchen!
Let’s see, who else, Kim Valentine
Malynn had a baby boy named Connor
with her husband in June, and he is
the cutest thing ever. That’s all that I
got! Hope everyone is doing well and
enjoying this summer.” Thanks for
checking in, Melissa, and congratulations,
Kim! ¶ Kellie Marren Rowland,
my old freshman roomie, is another
glowing mother! She gave birth to her
second child, Alice, in June, and her
first daughter, Mollie, is already 2
years old! They just bought a house
in Scituate, MA. Congrats, Kel! ¶
Speaking of Mollies, I had the
pleasure of sitting with Molly Vollmer
and her husband, Adam, at Evan
Rufo’s wedding. Afraid I couldn’t buy
her a drink this round, as she was
pregnant with her newborn, Brady,
who I’m happy to report is doing very
well! Despite the rain at Evan’s
wedding, it truly was a beautiful
ceremony. Many Regis alums were in
attendance, including Colleen Jaegar,
and all were seen enjoying the dance
floor after dinner! By the time you
read this, Evan will a proud house
owner in Woburn, MA. ¶ In other
wedding news, I will be attending
Michelle Class’s wedding on Sept. 18,
2010; she and Brian Petersen will
finally tie the knot. Her bridal party
will include Sharon Lemay Ploss, Amy
Shoemaker Bucelewicz, and Sarah
Staunton. I’ll make sure to fill you
all in with the next round of notes.
¶ Kemi Akinribido is currently
traveling the world and enjoying life!
In the past few years she’s been to
the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium,
Italy, Greece, and Costa Rica, and she
just came back from Japan a few
weeks ago. ¶ Liz DeLise is having an
“off-pregnancy” year since her son,
Tedy, was born. Tedy is now 1, and
Sophia is 3 (both are Jan. babies).
Liz truly has her hands full! Her
husband, Troy, joined the army and
left for training in Apr., so he’ll be
done in Nov., meaning another move
for Liz’s crew by the end of the year.
Maybe they’ll bring you back to our
neck of the woods, Liz! She said she is
excited for the new adventure, seeing
as she grew up as an army brat and
is now a proud army wife! She also
