- CODE OF THE COUNTYAPPENDIX B - SUBDIVISION ORDINANCEARTICLE 5 - IMPROVEMENTS GENERALLYDIVISION 4 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AND PUBLIC DEDICATIONSaccess, provisions shall be made for installation of a culvert or other structure, of a design approved bythe subdivision agent.DIVISION 3BLOCKS5.21 Block length.5.22 Block width.5.23 Block orientation.5.24 Industrial or business subdivisions.5.21Block length.Blocks shall not be greater than twelve hundred (1,200) feet nor less than five hundred (500) feet inlength. However, the subdivision agent may waive this provision when in the judgment of the subdivisionagent extreme topographic conditions would cause undue hardship if the subdivider complied with thisprovision.5.22Block width.Blocks shall be wide enough to provide two (2) tiers of lots of minimum depth, except where abuttingupon major streets, limited access highways, or railroads or topographical or other situations that makethis requirement impractical in which case the subdivision agent may approve a single tier of lots ofminimum depth.5.23Block orientation.Where a proposed subdivision adjoins a road classified as a collector or arterial by the <strong>Virginia</strong>Department of Transportation, blocks shall be oriented to minimize ingress and egress on such roads;provided, however, that adequate emergency access shall be allowed.5.24Industrial or business subdivisions.Any lots or blocks intended for non-residential use shall be designed specifically for that purpose withadequate space for off-street parking, off-street loading, and delivery facilities in accordance with articleIV, section 30-91 of the zoning ordinance.
