6.5Access to principal arterials.- CODE OF THE COUNTYAPPENDIX B - SUBDIVISION ORDINANCEARTICLE 6 - STREET AND SIDEWALKSDIVISION 3 MINIMUM STREET IMPROVEMENTSWhere a subdivision borders on or contains an existing or proposed principal arterial, the subdivisionagent may require that access to such streets be limited by one (1) of the following means:1. The subdivision of lots such that they back on the principal arterial and front on a parallel localstreet, no access shall be provided from the principal arterial, and screening shall be provided ina strip of land along the rear property line of such lots.2. A series of cul-de-sacs, U-shaped streets, or short loops entered from and designed generallyat right angles to such a parallel street, with the rear lines of their terminal lots backing onto theprincipal arterial.3. A marginal access or service road (separated from the principal arterial by a planting or grassstrip and having access at suitable points).6.6Dedication of streets.All streets shall be dedicated for public use on the final plat unless otherwise specifically provided forin this ordinance.DIVISION 2GENERAL STREET DESIGN STANDARDS6.7 Adoption of state highway department standards.6.8 Minimum widths.6.9 Approach angle.6.10 Access to adjoining property.6.11 Grades.6.12 Cul-de-sacs.6.13 Construction of roads and dead-end roads.6.14 Service drives.6.15 Drainage easements.6.7Adoption of state highway department standards.All design standards of the <strong>Virginia</strong> Department of Transportation are hereby adopted by reference;such design standards shall govern streets dedicated to public use unless otherwise specified by thisordinance.6.8Minimum widths.The minimum width of proposed streets right-of-way, measured from lot line to lot line, shall be inaccordance with regulations established by VDOT.
