Kill off the Afghans around the camp. They then climbed the walls and gotinside. The soldiers stealthily moved around the camp, evading mostguards and silently dealing with others. They reached the base, a largeround building with great double doors. They snuck behind it and plantedthe C4 on the back of the outer wall. They began retreating out of the campand were about to scale the wall again, when they heard yelling behindthem. James was struck on the temple with a hand gun and his companionswere disarmed and shot in the head.He woke up two hours later with a splitting headache and bump like anorange on the side of his temple. James squinted in the dim light and realisedthere were iron bars in front of him, he was a prisoner of war! Just likehis father had been back in World War II. Rats scuttled in the corner of thecell, cowering away from him. He turned and looked out of the barredwindow, he was still in the camp, must be under the building he tried toblow up. A pang of sadness struck him at the death of his companions, butall thought faded as a wave of tiredness engulfed him and he fell into a deepsleep.Time passed, he didn’t know how long he’d been there, but his senses hadsharpened. He could hear the rough chatter of the guards outside, and thepitter-patter of rat’s feet. James thought of his wife Nadia, and his sonCharlie. He wondered if he’d ever see them again when suddenly therewas yelling outside and chaos erupted. He heard close explosions. Hestood up, leaning away from the window. Abruptly, the wall on the left sideof the cell exploded and James was thrown into the bars at the right of theroom. Light shone into the room. He stood up, unscathed, and saw hischance. He ran to the gaping hole in the wall and pulled himself up and outof the cell. He ran frantically. Part of the wall surrounding the camp wasblown to rubble and James sprinted out. He thanked the Lord and the BritishBomber planes and sprinted into the forest.James sat in an aeroplane three days later. The General accepted his resignationfrom the British army and sent him off on the next plane to England.The flight was eight hours long and he was exhausted when he arrived atHeathrow airport, but infinitely relieved at being back in England. He tooka taxi back to his house in Southgate, London. He paid the driver then ranto the door of his home. He knocked three times, then his wife opened the
